To recover is to return to a state of normalcy, or to regain possession of something previously lost. How apt is this word for our time!

Without a doubt, God wants all his children to recover- that’s the very essence of Christ’s birth, life, and death. In fact, Jesus words at the cross- “It is finished” clearly confirms an end has been put to all losses. The victory is won, point blank. We are redeemed!

When something of great significance is stolen or lost, it is a natural reaction to grieve, just as David did upon his return to Ziklag (1 Sam 30:4). During these somber moments, we should turn our attention to the Lord Most High. In the midst of all the trouble David was faced, he encouraged himself in the Lord and asked, “Shall I pursue my enemies?” The answer was a resounding yes, “pursue: for you shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. (1 Sam 30:8)”

Though we have the blessing of the Lord, know that the work of recovery is not an easy one; like David, you may need to enter into battle in order for your restoration to be complete. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will give you strength (Isaiah 41:10). Although your adversary may currently be rejoicing (1 Samuel 30:16), know that you have been given the ability to overcome the enemy (Luke 10:19). Rest assured in the arms of the Lord, your victory is doubtless as long as you hold on to faith in God. There’s a reason why the scriptures remind us in Proverbs 3:5 to put our trust in God and acknowledge him in all our ways, because with him on your side, a total recovery is guaranteed.

Did David recover all as promised by God? He sure did! Check his testimony out- “So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all.” I Samuel 30:18-19

It’s recovery time. Go and pursue whatever has been stolen: you will surely overtake, and without fail, recover all in Jesus name!
